"The nose surprises me at first both positive and negative. Positive is definitely the complexity of fruit, tropical fruit and citrus of all kinds. Also, glue, sulfur, acidity, pepper, nutmeg, anise and, not very surprisingly, a lot of oak. Negative is unfortunately the intensity, I would have expected more. On the palate, however, then very set, most of the flavors are also found in the mouth, but much more intense. Overall, a definitely underrated and incredibly tasty rum. This set and round fruitiness with the equally set spice is just wonderful"

"Schöne Messeabfüllung, die einen rundum gelungenen Rum darstellt. In der Nase habe Ich viel Karamell, aber auch muffige Holztöne, wie bei alten Armagnacs aus feuchten Kellern. Im Mund dann Parallelen zum Rum Nation Clarendon 1991 (RX 1012). Das Sherry Fass kommt sehr dezent durch, aber dennoch spürbar. Ansonsten die üblichen Eichenholz/Vanille-Töne mit etwas roten Früchten. Toller süffiger, fast leichter Gesamteindruck trotz der hohen %%. Viel Fasseinfluss ohne zu bitter zu sein durch die hohe Lagerung. Im Abgang schön lang und fördert den Speichelfluss. Alles in allem fehlt mir aber noch ein Aha-Moment mit dem Rum. Er ist sehr gut gearbeitet und toll ausgesucht, aber nichts woran Ich mich in einer Woche erinnern werden. Gerechtfertigtes PLV mit tollem Flaschendesign."

Palate Warm, medium dry, light wood, ester, banana, overripe, light earthy, faint chocolate. Finish Long and warm, light wood, ester, fruity, light tobacco, faint smoke. Draws nice curtains in the glass. The empty glass has stronger chocolate and light mint. Price to quality is OK in my mind."

"Very cool dark color 😎 Nose: Amazing notes of tobacco, oak, licorice, leather and a lot of rubber. I found some dried prunes and raisins too. After 20-30 min. of resting, I found some cool notes of cumin😜 On the palate: Woody, salty and bitter, oak (a lot of woodiness), herbal notes, minty, black tea, leather and licorice. Finish: Is quite long and bitter, without getting astringend. It’s more one the enjoyable side😜It’s like a woody cocktail (with all the various notes) with some pencil shavings as crumbles 😜"

"A blind purchase that was absolutely worth it! Yes, I have to say I'm even slightly euphoric - what a great rum! While it is still relatively restrained on the nose (and remains so), the fat mint aromas really come into their own on the palate, but not as "light" as with the two RAs of the last two years, but somehow "darker", more bitter, drier - almost as if a good Monymusk had also set its accents here. The alcohol is dosed just right to bring out the aromas perfectly. Yes, this rum is definitely a T.D.L., and one of the really good kind - I'll go one better: for me, it's the best I've ever drunk - right after the legendary CDI (RX944)! 😊 Predicate: lip-smacking. 😋 Chapeau, FRC! 👍 Update 2023-07-21: Well, now the demystification that some have been waiting for. 🤷 Tasting it again today, I can - apart from the mint and the slight euphoria - feel the same way I did back then. The only difference is that I wouldn't put everything on such a high level now - apart from the alcohol, which is incredibly well integrated for over 60%. So, only a slight disenchantment, not a total one. But now the rum seems to have been put into perspective. It's a good one. Oh well, tasted against the new RA T.D.L (RX15401). It doesn't stand a chance against it, it's clearly superior in all respects. Update 2023-10-14: Blue hour, the second: Blind crosstasting with the T.D.L 2002 from Cadenhead's (RX16680). Today, the differences between the two compared rums are quite big. One is pleasantly minty and later a little smoky, the other musty and chalky with poorly integrated alcohol. I liked the former much better. I thought it was the FRC that I had already tasted several times - and was wrong after the dissolution. I see the Cadenhead's as a solid 2002 T.D.L in the lower midfield, 85 points. Unfortunately, the difference on the nose and palate (and the smell of the emptied glass! 😊) means that I have to downgrade the FRC again, from 85 to 81 points."

"Another combination that can go well: high ester and sherry. Let's see how this one is. ABV is right, the dark color is probably also due to the PX.Nose: intense esters with sweet and sour pineapple are immediately present. Behind that, however, I immediately detect the PX finish with its sweet-woody-smoky aromas. A slight lemon freshness and a vinegar note are just as there as marzipan and resinous wood. Pleasant and balanced.Palate: there must have been some PX in the barrel. Because you almost have it here before the esters. Sweetish sherry, almost brandy. Sweetish-sour, woody-smoky. Something like rum-raisin with pineapple. Alcohol is quite well integrated.Sherry and pineapple with a slight smoky note in the finish.Good drinkable, but for me too much sherry on the palate."

"The smell is delicious, not complex, but very pleasing. Coconut, pineapple, a little banana and lots of toffee and syrup. Spices, wood rather weak. The smell continues in the mouth with lots of sweet and fruity notes. Nevertheless, a warm feeling. Could be a sweetened mix of low-Ester Jamaica, Barbados and Dom Rep...!"

"Edit: I like it much better as a mixer than pure. Can be used both in the MaiTai and as a CubaLibre I was actually expecting more funk and something a bit more unusual. It's still pretty wild and boisterous. This was another one where I tried to experiment a little with adding extra water. I have to admit that it is a lot more pleasing and becomes a solid, tasty sipper. This time there's an extra point after the decimal point for the funny label and the unusual idea."

"Yes, this is the best of the four rums in the small series. It's probably due to the higher ABV. The rum is somewhat fuller-bodied and more aromatic than the other three. But it won't be my favorite either. Edit: I made a small blend from the leftover samples of the four Ecuadorians (i.e. tipped them together). Tastes better than any of the four individually! 😊 (but without rating)"

Today the sample has very different notes than at the first sampling. --------------------------- #4778 13.07.2024 Relaxing with a little sample 😊 This is very far from an Enmore and what you'd expect. Very light/thin with citrus touch and soap like on the palate. Will try to get another sample to make sure this is correct. Just checked the empty glass and i has a perfume/soapy touch to it."

"Knowing my Barbadian rums I started by resting this one for 15 minutes so that it could release all its flavours. Clearly a Bajan rum but slightly modified and I like it. Sweet and spicy at the same time with fruits and a hint of the barrel. Would have loved it to be older and with a higher ABV (50% as a minimum). "
