"#4463 11.11.2023 Enjoying a few samples before I have to give a tasting close to my home. Advantage is I can walk there and back really fast so I can participate as well. This is a pretty good blend especially wheb looking at the price tag. I would have loved a higher ABV though. Medium fruity with nice spices and roasted wood. Light profile because of the ABV. Short to medium finish with some dried fruit."

"Un rhum d’assemblage entre la Jamaïque (sûrement Worthy Park) et l’Australie (Beenleigh), qui se veut simple, doux et facile à boire. Le nez est ce qu’il y a de plus évolué ici, avec des fruits exotiques bien mûrs (banane) et des agrumes, un peu de phénols, des notes pâtissières qui tirent sur le sucre Demerara, un peu d’épices, d’influence du fût et de notes florales. Il y a un peu de tout et c’est agréable pour les narines. Le palais est un peu plus limité. Les fruits transpercent le palais avec les fruits jaunes, secs, le coco et les agrumes, le tout saupoudré de vanille, de notes toastées, épicées et caramélisées. La rondeur règne et le profil se bloque dessus, limitant ainsi son potentiel. Quelques degrés supplémentaires auraient pu faire un peu la différence sur ce profil où Worthy Park mène et Beenleigh devient totalement transparent. La finale est sur la même lignée : fruitée, épicée, caramélisée, douce comme une crème brûlée et avec un soupçon de tabac en prime. Famille Ricci propose donc une cuvée accessible, qui permettra aux personnes réticentes face aux profils plus lourds de découvrir quelque chose de nouveau."

"C'est d'abord le TDL qui se montre avec un nez très fruité. Puis une fraîcheur mentholée. Après quoi le bois et des notes plus sombres telles de que le cuir et les épices font leur apparition. On retrouve clairement les deux origines du blend. En bouche, même sensation. Le mariage est vraiment réussi. Les deux rhums s'accordent réellement et se maintiennent tout au long de la dégustation. On a un profil Guyana très boisé, torréfié, sur le cuir qui ne prend pas le pas sur un TDL plus fruité. L'alcool est parfaitement intégré. Jolie longueur, même si j'en aurais voulu plus encore. Un très joli blend. Édit: première impression totalement confirmée. Très belle sélectionet tès bon blend."

"02-09.04.2022 This was crazy week, where some friends and I rented a nice summerhouse on Rømø. The plan was to go nuts for a whole week with different rums without going overboard. The final agreement came to 6 rums a day and then enjoy nice walks or ferry rides during the day. Day 4 Notes Medium dark in colour. Nose Light roasted wood, dried fruit, light nutts, light coffee, faint chocolate. Palate Warm, light wood, roasted, light coffee, light honey, light chocolate, light almonds, light fruits. Finish Long and warm, medium dry, light wood, faint chocolate, dried fruit, light almonds. Extra note. Got better as it warmed up in my hand."

"Nose: the DOK dominates but the character of the rum from Panama is also noticeable. Overall, however, quite restrained. Palate: Panama is clearly more present here and not much of the DOK is noticeable. The alcohol is not optimally integrated. In the finish, the fruitiness of the Hampden comes through again very nicely. Nice interplay between the two rums! A very successful blend. Unfortunately, the alcohol is quite present, otherwise more than 9 points would be possible."

"A blend of Guyana and Barbados bottled by the Ricci Family. The nose is rather timid, more Foursquare-oriented, with light spicy, pastry notes and a touch of solvents. On the palate, it's aggressive, quite strong and the alcohol is poorly integrated. Apart from spicy, roasted notes, caramel and a hint of chocolate, there's not much to take from it. The finish is persistent, very sketchy, wedged on spices and a few woody, sweet notes. You have to play hide-and-seek with the aromas, and it's hard to get anything positive out of it. A terribly bland and unbalanced rum, which becomes almost unpleasant."

"Tasted fresh from the bottle while sampling. From the first impression, it can already do a lot. Despite the high ABV, I find the alcohol extremely well integrated. Very balanced for me. It would have been nice if I had had it a few days earlier during crosstasting. But on its own, it's a real competitor to the Nobilis No.14, which I would also rank ahead of the WuDram and CoR from memory. But right now it's really picking me up."

"Goûté au SoRhum 2023 en fin de dégustation Ricci. J'avais aimé la version réduite qui manquait un peu de puissance. De ce côté, on est servi avec cette version cask strength! C'est très sympa au nez. Des notes sucrées et de coco. En bouche un boisé bien présent. L'alcool est bien là. On le sent passer. C'est puissant mais pas râpeux. Sympa."

"Über die Nähe zwischen TDL und Caroni wurde ja durch Steffens Buch schon detailliert berichtet. Aromatisch finde ich auch hier HTR-typische Noten vor und halte deshalb einen Blend aus TDL und Caroni für wahrscheinlich. Gefällt mir sehr gut, angesichts der Rahmendaten (Alterung, Geschmacksprofil) durchaus ein PLV-Tipp für mich - heute kosten weitaus weniger ausgewogene offizielle Caroni-Releases schon deutlich mehr. Im Direktvergleich zu anderen Caronis der gehobenen Kategorie natürlich etwas im Hintertreffen, aber für die zweite Reihe ein sehr ansprechendes Release."

This year three weren't as many new releases as in 2023, but I still had a great time. Nose Round, balanced, complex, wood, light roasted, plum, light citrus, faint caramel, light chocolate. Palate Balance, complex, oily, smooth, dried fruit, wood, light roasted, faint nutts, faint medicinal, light caramel, faint chocolate, light citrus, prunes. Finish Long, complex, balanced, wood, light roasted, dried fruit, light citrus, faint caramel, prunes. This is a wonderful rum in good balance and not too woody. Needs a bit of time to really open up, but then you get what you pay for."

"This is a lovely bottling and I got the nose as soon as I opened the sample. The fruit is there especially coconut that I love in the rums from Barbados followed by the wood and spices in near perfect harmony. The empty glass will release the most wonderful flavours after and hour or so and even the day after you still get some of the flavours. Price to quality is OK."

"Price to quality can be argued but the quality can't. A very fruity, intense and well balanced rum. I like the roasted wood on the profile, nicely balanced without being dominant. ABV is very well integrated."

"Mal wieder ein sehr guter 2001er Fiji. Er ist mehr auf der würzig pflanzlichen Seite, dabei aber sehr ausgewogen. Der Alkohol ist sehr eingebunden und trägt die Aromen gut und deutlich. Er komnt zwar an meine Benchmark des Fiji Flag LMDW nicht heran… aber dennoch eine sehr gute Abfüllung"

"Notes taken during the Rhum Fest 2024, Quick notes and a bit heavy palate, sorry :) What we have here: an explosion on the palate, with Jamaica very much in evidence. A rum: ultra fruity once again with some Jamaican markers Finish: quite long, but a little warm in my memory. Sample a commander pour re tester ça au calme... excellent in any case I understand the quick sell out!"

"Un rhum goûté au Whisky Live à Paris en 2024. Un nez très fruité, tutti frutti, avec un beau côté floral et du bois présent mais pas envahissant. Les fruits explosent aussi en bouche, les fleurs sont moins marquées. La finale est un peu décevante avec moins de fruits et pas très longue non plus. Un très beau TDL mais avec quelques limitations."

"A warm, classic Foursquare. Right from the start, the roundness of the nose settles on buttered caramel on a slice of lightly toasted bread, accompanied by milk chocolate and candied dried fruit. Toasted coconut is present. A note of sawdust, as if from a sawmill still in operation. On the palate, the bourbon barrel immediately develops a lovely toasty, caramelized woodiness, cinnamon, vanilla too, and a hint of ginger passing through. There's chocolate milk and dried fruit in the alcohol. It's greedy and generous. A spicy finish, followed by the leathery scents of a fireside chair and an already-opened cigar box. Very well-integrated alcohol throughout. A fine 16-year-old single cask."

"Very interesting blend of T.D.L. and a rum from Nicaragua. I don't think I've ever had a glass of the latter. The great profile of the T.D.L. stands out clearly, repeatedly interrupted by citrus notes. The alcohol is not well integrated, despite standing for 2 hours, a certain bitterness remains. I think the T.D.L. would be better here on its own. Maybe not the Nicaragua rum =D"
