You've started your rum journey, tried the first standards, and are now looking for something special for an evening in front of the fireplace? Welcome to the world of limited edition blended rums.
- The category: The fine art of composition – here, limited-edition casks are blended to create something greater (1+1=3).
- The winner: Velier & Foursquare show what perfect harmony tastes like with their “Fidelitas” (21 years of tropical maturation).
- The highlight: Our exclusive Navy Blend with perfect harmony secures second place.
- Conclusion: These rums are liquid architecture for discerning connoisseurs and collectors.
A blended rum is much more than just a “mix” of different barrels. It is liquid architecture. The master blender must be both a visionary and a craftsman in order to create harmony from different distillates—whether from the same distillery or from different countries—that is more complex than its individual parts.
In this category, we do not award mass-produced goods, but rather limited editions, vintage bottlings, and creative concepts that tell stories. This is where collectors and connoisseurs come together.
The best blended rums 2025
Here are the masterpieces of the art of blending that made the biggest waves in 2025.
When liquid art meets a bottle, this is the result—curtains up for the three most harmonious compositions of the year:

🥇 1ST PLACE: Velier Foursquare Fidelitas 2004
RX23643 | Median: 8.8 / 10 | Reviews: 69 Origin: Barbados | Collaboration: Velier & Foursquare
The story behind the rum When two giants of the rum scene join forces, the world holds its breath. Richard Seale (Foursquare) and Luca Gargano (Velier) have once again proven why they are at the top of their game with the “Fidelitas” (loyalty) edition. The distillery's oldest barrels were used here. Twenty-one years of tropical aging in Barbados result in a concentration that seems physically impossible. Since rum matures three times faster in the tropics than in Europe, we are dealing with a “Methuselah” in the glass.
What the community says “A flavor bomb, as harmonious as a Mozart concerto.” – The community particularly celebrates the incredible density of the aromas. Despite the long maturation, it does not seem “over-oaked,” but perfectly on point.
Tasting Notes A dark, almost oily elixir. The nose explodes with dried fruit, heavy caramel, and fine mahogany. A powerful spiciness unfolds on the palate, transitioning into an endless, warming finish. A rum for eternity.
🥈 2nd PLACE: Famille Ricci Caroni Navy Blend (RumX Edition)
RX25000 | Median: 8.7 / 10 | Reviews: 49 Origin: Multi-Island (Trinidad, Jamaica, Guyana) | Bottler: Famille Ricci
The story behind the rum Navy rum is history you can drink – a tradition of the British Navy that began over 300 years ago. We wanted to revive this legend, but with a modern twist. Morgan Ricci, the “alchemist” from southern France, was commissioned by us to create the ultimate Navy Blend for the RumX community. The result? A blend from Jamaica, Guyana, and – as the crowning glory – ultra-rare Caroni rum from Trinidad.
What the community says The fact that a “commissioned work” landed in second place shows the trust placed in Morgan Ricci. The community particularly praises the elegance and balance of this Navy Rum, in which all the components combine to create a harmonious symphony of flavors.
Tasting Notes Here, the power of a heavy Guyana rum meets the funkiness of Jamaica and the leathery, smoky notes of Caroni. Tropical fruits dance with dark chocolate and tobacco. A complex puzzle that comes together perfectly in the glass.
🥉 3rd place: Hampden Great House (Distillery Edition 2025)
RX23706 | Median: 8.5 / 10 | Reviews: 62 Origin: Jamaica | Manufacturer: Hampden Estate
The story behind the rum At Hampden Estate, “traditional craftsmanship” is not just an empty marketing slogan, but a religion. The distillery is world-famous for its extremely long, wild fermentations, which produce so-called “high ester” rums – flavor bombs that have changed the world of rum forever. The annual “Great House” bottling has become an institution. It is a blend of different marks (recipes) from the distillery and serves as a benchmark every year for how authentic, unsweetened Jamaican rum should taste.
What the community says “Wild reggae tunes in liquid form.” The Hampden Great House 2025 leaves no one cold. The community celebrates it as an olfactory powerhouse. One user aptly remarked: “This rum can also be used as a room fragrance – once the bottle is open, it exudes its intense exoticism to every corner of the room!” If you love “funk,” you'll feel right at home here.
Tasting Notes Ready for sensory overload? A basket full of overripe fruit—pineapple, bananas, mangoes—meets green olives and baked apples. On the palate, it lays heavily on the senses with a heavy, oily body. The finish is an endless loop of fine precious wood aromas, marzipan, and a fascinating, slightly medicinal note. Our conclusion: You can save yourself the trouble of brushing your teeth afterwards – this taste will linger!
Outlook: Legends for your home bar
After these exclusive and limited-edition specialties, tomorrow we will move on to the rocks in the surf. Rums that are always available, fairly priced, and a must-have for any bar. Look forward to this category, which proves that good taste doesn't have to cost a fortune.
Perfect harmony?
Single casks often take center stage among “nerds,” but this year's winners impressively demonstrate that when a master of his craft blends different components, the result is greater than the sum of its parts. What do you think? Are you “purists” who swear exclusively by the rough edges of single casks, or do you enjoy the complex, orchestrated balance of a perfect blend like Fidelitas?
